Ontario Ice Dance Weekends

What is Ice Dancing? It is one of the four disciplines of figure skating and it means dancing a set dance pattern to music designed for the dance with a partner just as you might on the dance floor. These weekends are social events sponsored by a Figure Skating Club or Group in a particular area and they invite other Ice Dancers from all over North America to come for fun filled weekend of great ice dancing, good food, good fun, with others so inclined. 

In Ontario there are three such weekends.

In April 2012  it is the "Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club" which hosts a weekend at their
club facilities in Toronto with about 100 skaters from all over North America attending
and on occasion from Overseas as well. 

In 2012 it is April 20, 21 & 22

March it is Eistanzfest sponsored by the K-W Skating Club in Kitchener/Waterloo Ontario sponsoring a weekend that regularly see up to 100 skaters from Ontario, Quebec, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, to name a few places. August is the time for Mariposa in Barrie. This weekend has been hosted by Astrid Lakats for many years followed by Elaine Noble-Tames  & Sheree Toffan  in 2010 a new group have taken up the reins. They are Perry & Karen Bowker and, Peter & Margaret McLaren . It is a very popular weekend. Mariposa has already  celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Other skate weekends

In October it is Rochester NY. Also Bay Area Ice Dancers in San Jose, CA(Columbus Day Weekend)

In March in odd numbered years it is Chicago and in even numbered years Cincinnati, Ohio on the calendar.

In late May Wichita, KS and in Alexandria VA the Capitol Cotillion

In June the Detroit Skating Club host Motown Tango the weekend after Father's day annually, and the Boston Figure Skating Club, Boston Mass also hosts a skate weekend. The weekend following Father's Day in June

In July it is in Atlanta. GA.  Minneapolis MN

In September it is Princeton NJ and Portland OR
