He was educated at Shawbridge Elementary, Lachute Elementary, Laurentian Regional High School in Lachute and graduated from grade 11 at Ste Agathe Academy in 1976. Wayne moved to Vancouver and while there took the Carpenter's Trade. He lived with Donna Jean Murphy in Vancouver for 7 years and they have a daughter, Sarah.
On August 15, 1992 in St. Mary's Anglican Church, North March, ON, Wayne married Donna Edith Armitage, the daughter of Joan Gordon and Scott Armitage.
Wayne went to Carleton University and obtained a Masters in English in 1998.
In 2001 they were living in Ottawa, ON.
