Fanny married John Bates, a well-to-do man. John was born in 1825. He had been married earlier to Susan Boyle (1833-1874) and they had a son, John D. Bates, Jr., whom Fanny helped to rear.
John Jr. was born in 1868 and married Charlotte Mault Paige (July 15, 1868 - May 12, 1927), the daughter of Elizabeth Leech and Robert Paige. John Jr. died in December of 1897. John Sr., John Jr., Susan Boyle and Charlotte Paige are all buried in the Cookshire Community Cemetery, Cookshire, QC, (see PBBBFE).
Fanny had no children of her own. After John, Sr., died in 1887, Fanny married Edward Dawson, perhaps related to her own mother.
Fanny died in Seaforth, ON, about 1890, and is buried there.

John Bates was born in 1825. He died in 1887. He was buried in Cookshire Community Cemetery, Quebec.
