17. Helen Natalia Maunu was born on 16 Dec 1925 in Dunblane SK.

Helene Natalia (Maunu) Collier

Helene Natalia was born on December 16, 1925 at the family farm near Dunblane. At the age of 21 she and her younger sister, Pearl moved to Ontario to find work. They had ambitious plans to by a new car for their father. Their plans were suddenly dashed with the tragic news that their father had suddenly died while visiting their older sister Mildred in Vancouver. They quickly packed their belongings and took a train to Vancouver to attend the funeral. Helene and Pearl stayed in Vancouver and never returned to Ontario.

Helene met Stan Collier when he was working for her brother-in-law, Buster Clearwater, on June 11, 1949. They started to go together and were married on August 1, 1951. Stan was born on September 21, 1921 in Vancouver and had three children Barbara, Jill, and Ken, from a previous marriage.

Helene and Stan had one son, Gary Edwin born on January 9, 1953 and lived in Burnaby, B.C.

In April 1996 Stan became ill and was admitted to St. Mary's Hospital on April 20th. He was diagnosed as having cancer of the liver, which soon spread, to the brain. He died on June 13, 1996.

COLLIER - Stanley (Stan)
of Burnaby, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital June 13, 1996, aged 74 years. Survived by his loving family, wife, Helene (nee Maunu); son, Gary; grandchildren, Cherie and Shane; also daughters, Barbara and Jill; and son, Ken; 3 grandchildren, Washington, USA. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21 at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
