27. John Fewson Vernon Smith was born on 9 Feb 1864 in Salt Lake City Utah. He died on 4 Apr 1934. notes from Pete Fewson

For 38 years a mining and metalurgical engineer witht he Unted States Smelting, Refining & Mining Company. Froom 1901 until 1917 he served as Water Commissioner in charge of canals entering Salt Lake Valley from Jordan Narrows. He resigned after completing the distribution dam at the head of the canals, which could deliver 90 milion gallons of fresh water per day to Salt Lake City.
he was long connected witht he Twenty-first ward of the L.D.S. Church. He died at the home of his daughter, mrs. L. P. Pearce of Kennilworth, Utah, less than two hours after he had suffered a paraletic stroke.

He was married to Alice E. Steers in 1889. John Fewson Vernon Smith and Alice E. Steers had the following children:

He was married to Cecelia A. Swenson in 1924. Cecelia A. Swenson was born on 16 Mar 1868 in Salt Lake City, UT USA. She died on 18 Mar 1933 in Salt Lake City, UT USA. She was buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery. notes from Pete Fewson
