37. Ella Victoria Jackson was baptized in 1875 in Garden St Methodist Church by Rev G W Norris. She was born on 12 Aug 1875 in 54 Prospect St., Lawrence Mass USA. She died on 20 Oct 1960 in Unity Sask.. She was buried on 22 Oct 1960 in Pleasantview Unity Sask.

She was married to Justin William Hamilton (son of Matthew Hamilton and Irene Isabel Pierce) on 30 Nov 1898 in Coaticook Quebec. The following is a letter form my mother Phyllis Hamilton wife of Ronald Hamilton to Julie Hamilton daughter of Lyle Hamilton brother of Ronald Hamilton.

We are not sure if he had two wives called Irene or he married an Irene who had been married before. I think that it was perhaps two women because of the gap in the births of six years. (we now know that Irene was married to E.R. Mayo and had one child Eva before marrying Matthew - this note added by Garth, Phyllis's son).

Justin lived in Unity SK until he died and had two daughters, Rose who died several years ago and Lilllian who died last year. Justin's wife Ella lived until fairly recently, but Justin died some time ago in Unity SK. Believe Justin had other children, boys, but can't tell you anything about them.

Your Grandfather (Hugh) was born in the Eastern Townships of Quebec and was a school teacher and a strong temperance worker - becoming a John Deer and Dodge dealer when he moved to Unity SK. Your Grandmother (Fanny) was born in England and came to Canada as a child her Father was a stone mason in Portage la Prairie named Carr, a stiff backed Methodist. There were five Carr sisters your grandmother Fanny, plus Laura, Clara, Florence, Elizabeth

Can't tell you any more details re your grandfathers brothers and sisters. I've met Justin, Ella, Frank but years ago when first married, in Unity SK. If you wrote to jack Wallace box 249, Unity SK. he can tell your more perhaps he can tell about Justin's family and Frank's. The Mass. (Bernardston) arm of the family we met but weren't much interested in so distant a connection to keep up correspondence. I enclosed two pieces of memorabilia you might be interested in. Your dad was the first child he was probably born in Sydney MB. I think those are all the details I have let us know ahead when & where you will be in Toronto in July we can come in to see you. I recall years ago meeting your Dad in Toronto and having lunch with him. Yes our kids are just realizing they know very little of their roots! I'm not great on ancestors!
