SECOND GENERATION

3. James Hammond was born in 1796 in Ireland. He immigrated in 1840 to Ireland to Quebec. He died in 1874. James arrived in Canada with his wife , 6 sons and a daughter. His first wife died one month and 17 days after arriving in Canada. James remarried in 1842 to Nancy Pollack and had another 10 children.

He was married to Eliza Madill in 1823 in Ireland. According to the "History of the Counties of Argentuil Quebec and Prescott Ontario on page 439, James had six sons and daughter by his first marriage and by Nancy Pollock he had 10 children that grew up. Mr Hammond had the honor of owning the first wheeled vehicle in Mille Isles, which was a cart. Eliza Madill died in 1840 in Gore Township. James Hammond and Eliza Madill had the following children:

+18 iv. David Hammond.
+19 v. Henry Hammond.

He was married to Nancy Pollock in 1840 in Gore Argentuil Quebec. Nancy Pollock was born in 1811 in Ireland. James Hammond and Nancy Pollock had the following children:

21 ii. Elizabeth Hammond was born in 1844.
22 iii. Jane Hammond was born in 1845.
23 iv. Isabella Hammond was born in 1846.
24 v. Nancy Hammond was born in 1849.
25 vi. Martha Hammond was born in 1850.
26 vii. Margaret Hammond was born in 1852.
27 viii. Sarah Hammond was born in 1858.
