FIRST GENERATION

1. Joseph Hamilton was born about 1814 and died the 03 Feb 1890 in Winchester, Dundas County, Ontario. I first learned of Joseph while reading an autobiography of Rev Joseph Hamilton second son of Joseph's brother James who is my Great Great Grandfather. The account starts on page 4 with young Joseph off to visit his Uncle Joseph in Winchester Ontario on March 19th 1860. His father took him by horse and sleigh as far as the Ottawa River but the ice was not safe enough for them to cross with the sleight so they said their goodbyes on the Quebec side and young Joseph set off on foot across the river. The whole journey took 3 days and on arrival he was happy to have made it, but one very homesick child. After visiting for a few days he hired out to his Uncle for 9 dollars a month to work on his farm. He stayed on the farm for 6 months.

+5 iv. Jane F Hamilton was born about 1st June 1854 in Winchester, Dundas County, Ontario.
+6 v. William Hamilton was born about 1858 in Winchester, Dundas County, Ontario.
+7 vi. John A Hamilton was born about 1860in Winchester, Dundas County, Ontario.
+8 vii. Wesley Hamilton was born about 17 July 1863 in Winchester, Dundas County, Ontario. Married Anna M Harrop 8th Jan 1894. she was born July 1868 in Ontario we find him in Census for Dundas County in 1891, 1901, and 1911 with three children Iva Mabel born 4 July 1896, Robert J born 30 May 1900, and Harold J born Dec 1903.

Married Oliver J Wilcox on 1 June 1892 he was born 1868 in South Woodslee, Ontario and found in the census of 1881, 1891 and 1901 for Rochester, Essex County Ontario with John H born 1894 and Greta J born 1897.

Malinda Donalda Hamilton was born about 9 Nov1869 in Winchester, Dundas County Ontario and died 7 Sept 1935 in Hastings On. married John Allen Mills 24 Oct 1894 he was born 7th Oct 1869 in North Norwich, Oxford County Ontario Found in the Ontario Census of Essex County in 1901 and 1911 with one child Harold born 19 April 1904 Maidenstone township , Essex County, Ontario
