2. Nancy Elizabeth Hamilton was born on 15 Mar 1833 in Gore Township, District 17, Quebec. She died on 13 Mar 1920 in Colebrook NH. She was buried in Clifton Quebec. Elizabeth wed William Gordon in 1852. She was the eldest child of James and Mary. She was note in the census of 1851 as being born in Canada.

Grandma Carr indicated that she had 12 children. They moved to Compton County with her fathers family about 1865.

She was married to William D Gordon (son of William Gordon and Nancy) on 17 Aug 1852 in Presbyterian Church Lachute Quebec. William D Gordon was born in 1826. He died on 6 Oct 1898. He was buried in Clifton Quebec. William Gordon, Shoemaker in the Gore of Chatham, Bachelor and Eliza Hamilton of the same place, Spinster, were after due proclamation of bans, joined in marriage this seventeenth OD August one thousand eight hundred and fifty two by me Thomas Henry Minister signing parties William Gordon and Elisa Hamelten witnefses Henery Peatt, James Moore. This from the records of the Presbyterian Church in Lachute Quebec 1852 on the back of folio 20 in the Quebec National archives microfilm #128.53 with all spelling and punctuation quirks of the original church record.

It would appear that William and Elizabeth followed her family when James and his sons moved to Compton County in 1865.

The following is an excerpt from the book "History of Compton County" by L.S.Channell in 1896 page 35:

The following are the name of some of the families who settled in the county coming from Argentuil, in addition to those mentioned: Alexander Johnson, who lived several years near Sawyerville, and left some years ago for the west; the late James Hamilton
with his wife and their sons , John, Matthew, Joseph, and William, and three or four daughters; William Gordon and wife; William Hammond and wife; Edward Parker with several sons and daughters;

William Gordon's wife is Elizabeth, James Hamilton's' Eldest Daughter's, and William Hammond is related to James Hamilton's wife Mary Hammond but not sure if sister or not. In this same book is a bio on Matthew which lists his fathers residence as Randborough. See short bio from this book under Matthew Hamilton. Note the absence of any mention of the young James here. There is a discrepancy in the way James is referenced as the late James in this excerpt and yet is referred to as living in Matthews bio from the same book. Nancy Elizabeth Hamilton and William D Gordon had the following children:

15 ii. James Gordon was born on 29 Apr 1855. He died on 15 Jul 1877 in California by drowning. He was buried in Clifton Quebec.

18 v. William Thomas Gordon was born on 22 Aug 1861 in Lakeside, Gore Township, Argentuil County Quebec. He died on 9 Mar 1901 in Clifton Quebec. He was buried in Clifton Quebec.
19 vi. Mary Elizabeth Gordon was born on 7 Jul 1863 in Lakeside, Gore Township, Argentuil County Quebec. She died on 15 Apr 1897 in Clifton Quebec. She was buried in Clifton Quebec.
20 vii. Archibald B Gordon was born on 26 Jun 1865 in Lakeside, Gore Township, Argentuil County Quebec. He died on 11 Jan 1889 in Clifton Quebec. He was buried in Clifton Quebec.
