SECOND GENERATION

2. Sylvester Hadley was born on 17 Jul 1815 in Wolfe Island, Midland District, Upper Canada, (Kingston On). He died on 5 May 1897 in Fenelon Falls, Lt 29 Conc 6, Verulam Twp, Victoria County, Ont. He was buried in Old Pioneer Cemetery in Gooderham On closed in 1905. notes from Helen Jean Fralick

He was married to Mary Fralick (daughter of Isaac Frölich and Mariah Flandrow) on 16 Dec 1840 in Reach Twp, Home District, Upper Canada. Notes from Helen Jean Fralick

Issac and Mariah moved from Schenectady to albany After their first child was born. Issac Mariah and their children travelled from Albany NY to Lower Canada. issac's Parents, philip and Clara, as well as their daughter rebecca, her husband Noah Goodman and their son Philip travelled with Issac. In the book "History of the County fo Haliburton" Mary Fralick Hadley states she was born in Albany NY and left for Quebec when she was 2 years old (1821).

I do not know how they travelled to the Easern townships in 1821. United Empire Loyalists at an earlier time travelled the trail that went through Sorel, whenthey travelled to Lower Canada.

Issac and his family show on the 1825 census for Dunham Twp., Bedford Co Lower Canada, they show on the 1831 census for Farnham Twp., Sheffod Co. Lower Canada. issac's parents show as living with him . i could not locate Issac on the 1842 census in the Eastern Townships. Clara, Issac and Mariah do not show as living with Clarissa, & James Sample or Rebecca and Noah Goodman.

I have written to a number of people to find out where the older Frelighs died, without success.

Issac travelled to Reach twp., Home dist. Canada West perhaps after Mariah died in 1844. The 1861 census for Scugog Island, Ontario Co. Canada West shows Issac Fralick, age 73, living with Solomon Lesley. Mary Fralick was born on 13 May 1819 in Albany NY USA. She died on 25 Feb 1887 in Gooderham, Glamorgan Twp, Haliburton County, Ontario. She was buried in Old Pioneer Cemetery in Gooderham On closed in 1905. Notes from Helen Jean Fralick

The Hadley Family Bible and the Fralick Family Bible show Mary's birth as 1818, whereas her tombstone shows 1819. A book "History of the County of Haliburton" by Dr C. Pelham, Toronto, states Mary was born in Albany NY and that her family left Albany NY for Lower Canada (Quebec) when she was 2 years of age. The family shows on the 1825 census for Dunham Twp Bedford County Lower Canada and on the 1831 Census for Farnham Twp Shefford Co Lower Canada.

About 1838-39 Mary and her two brothers, Issac and Solomn Lesley, (her twin) travelled to Reach Twp home Dist. Upper Canada (Ontario) from Lower Canada. I do not know how they travelled. No alternative to road and water transportation existed before 1850's. Movement from Lower to Upper Canada in the 1830's made use of river boats on the St. Lawrence River and Steamships on the great Lakes in Upper Canada.

Mary's Grandson, Issac Daniel Hadley, stated Mary only spoke "Dutch" I presume he meant "Deutsch". (German)

notes from Debra Hadley Parminter

Mary Frolich/Fralick came to Canada with her parents and siblings in 1821. There is some differing opinion on her year of birth. One family researcher gives her year of birth as 05/18/1819, some of us think that this may be her Christening Date. The Hadley Bible show her birth year as 1818, but her tombstone has 1819, so further investigating is needed here. Sylvester Hadley and Mary Fralick had the following children:

child+6 i. Hannah M Hadley.
child+7 ii. Solomon Orser Hadley.
child+8 iii. Joseph Hadley.
child+9 iv. Issac William Hadley.
child+10 v. Sylvester Henry Hadley.
child+11 vi. Sarah Victoria Hadley.
child+12 vii. Clarissa Jane Hadley.
child+13 viii. Mary Elizabeth Hadley.
