What I know of my Grandfather
Grandpa Whittaker arrive in Winnipeg at the age of 19 in 1902. He worked for
the railway (CPR) as a Paymaster. Later he sold real estate in North Battleford,
and was a Grocer in Saskatoon. According to my mother he owned a chain Blue Bird Groceterias prior
to WWII, in Saskatoon, in Prince Albert, and in North Battleford.
He sold his stores to Safeway under duress from unethical pressure
tactics by the big corporation and fear if he did not give in he would be ruined.
In 1949 he retired completely and moved the family to West Vancouver, BC where
he died in 1951 at the age of 68. Daisy Lavinia Ida Ferguson and Harold Whittaker
had the following children:
+10 i.
Phyllis Daisy Whittaker.
+11 ii.
Enid Margaret Whittaker. |
