Descendants of
John Cory

This line is on the maternal side of Dora (Savage) Hamilton, wife of Garth Hamilton. Dora's grandmother Hadley was a Cory.

The Cory line comes to Canada in 1851, from Devon,  when the widow of Thomas Cory, Christiana (Oke) Cory, and her five children. We found a grave sight in Mariposa Township, in which Christiana, Hugh & John with their wives and Sluggett relatives were located. Thomas died on England in 1832 prior to Christiana's immigration to Canada. Adjacent to the grave yard we found two former Cory farms that had previously belonged to John (Jack) and Hugh Cory. The graveyard we believe was on a parcel of land on the south east corner of Hugh's former farm which he gave to the Bethel Christian Church that once stood there. A home now stands on the church lot adjacent to the cemetery.
